About

Norwich Movie Makers is a small amateur movie-making club which originated in the early 1960’s, when a group of cine enthusiasts got together and formed the Norwich Cine Club. At that time, films were produced mainly on Standard 8 film without live sound. Since those days, technology has moved on a great deal. Analogue tape cameras have given way to digital, standard definition to high definition, film to tape and now, tape to solid state. But regardless of the technology, they all have the ability to capture moving images and sound, which can be edited to produce an entertaining or informative short film.
We are a friendly bunch – new members are always welcome, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced movie maker! We make films primarily for our own enjoyment, though some may like to enter their work in local competitions. Making a film which others appreciate and enjoy can be immensely satisfying.

Chairperson

In 1965 I obtained my first silent standard eight windup movie camera. Filming Scouting in the Stowmarket area. I now use a Sony Z7, iphone7, Nikon D3100 SLR and edit on Pinnacle Studio 20. In 20 years I've made 40 gardening instructional films, fund raising for The National Vegetable and National Chrysanthemum societies. Other interests are short documentaries and films of places I visit. I took on the role of Chairman three years ago.

I am a Norfolk girl, born and bred in Norwich, moved to Thorpe St Andrew when married and now live in Hellesdon. My favourite hobby is gardening, growing flowers, fruit and vegetables. I have always enjoyed helping my husband with his movie making, such as being a narrator or an actor. I am a long time member of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day Saints, which I love.
